Correspondence between Hollister Petraeus and Paula Broadwell

This is a request under the Freedom of Information Act. I hereby request the following records:

All correspondence, written and electronic, between Consumer Financial Protection Bureau employee Hollister (Holly) Petraeus and an individual named Paula Broadwell, between January 6, 2011 and November 4, 2013. Records requested include correspondence sent between Hollister (Holly) Petraeus and any and all email accounts used by an individual named Paula Broadwell.

I also request that, if appropriate, fees be waived as I believe this request is in the public interest. The requested documents will be made available to the general public free of charge as part of the public information service at MuckRock.com, processed by a representative of the news media/press and is made in the process of news gathering and not for commercial usage.

In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 20 business days, as the statute requires.

Hello,

I am requesting clarification about the CFPB FOIA Officer’s determination that “the information you are seeking to obtain are not agency records under the purview of the CFPB.”

That appears to indicate that the CFPB does not possess or did not find any records or information responsive my original FOIA request. But later in the determination, the FOIA Officer writes that I “have the right to appeal the determination [that] the records sought are not CFPB records,” which appears to indicate that the CFPB did in fact find information responsive to my initial request.

Did the CFPB actually find records responsive to my request? Is the FOIA Officer suggesting I should have filed my request with a different agency? The determination does not make any of this clear.

Please advise, and please confirm receipt. I will leave a voicemail with my phone number on the CFPB’s FOIA hotline as well.
