To Whom It May Concern:

This is a request under the Freedom of Information Act. I hereby request the following records:

Records pertaining to, or referencing (via cross reference) Shirō Ishii (石井 四郎 Ishii Shirō, June 25, 1892 – October 9, 1959) was a Japanese army medical officer, microbiologist and the director of Unit 731, a biological warfare unit of the Imperial Japanese Army during the Second Sino-Japanese War (1937–1945). Note that concerns regarding personal privacy are reduced by both passage of time since death, as well as foreign status rather than US Citizen. Please provide a count of excluded materials, if responsive documents are withheld. Thank you!

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM, DVD-R, or BD-R if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 20 business days, as the statute requires.

Sincerely,

Martin Peck
