Good afternoon Shawn Musgrave,

The Texas State Board of Pharmacy has received your request for prescription and dispensation data submitted to the Texas Prescription Monitoring Program (PMP) for Vimpat (lacosamide). PMP records are confidential under section 481.076<https://statutes.capitol.texas.gov/Docs/HS/htm/HS.481.htm> of the Texas Controlled Substances Act (TCSA) and excepted from disclosure under section 552.118<https://statutes.capitol.texas.gov/Docs/GV/htm/GV.552.htm> of the Texas Public Information Act. That said, section 481.076(b) of the TCSA authorizes TSBP to release statistical data that is not reasonably likely to identify any individual or entity.

Additionally, we have larger masked datasets that can be made available. I have attached an extract dictionary for the larger datasets. We can also provide aggregate totals of dispensation for lacosamide. Please let me know if you are interested in these.

Please be advised that, pursuant to §552.222(d) of the Texas Public Information Act, if by the 61st day after TSBP sends this request for clarification or narrowing TSBP does not receive a written response from you, the underlying request for public information is considered to have been withdrawn by you. Also, please note that when a governmental entity, acting in good faith, requests clarification or narrowing of an unclear or overbroad request for public information, the deadlines under the Act are measured from the date the request is clarified or narrowed.

Please let me know how you would like to proceed.

Hello Eamon,

Thank you for sending these. I don't see the extract dictionary attached. Can you resend that?

I'm certainly not interested in any identifying information, so one of the extracts should meet my needs. Once I review the extract dictionary I can let you know which is the best option.

Best,
Shawn

Hello Shawn,

My apologies, please see attached. The Word file contains the public extract data dictionary for the links provided in my last email, and the Excel file contains the masked extra data dictionary for the larger data sets.

Hi Eamon,

Thanks so much -- these public extracts and the extract dictionaries you sent are incredibly helpful in revising my request so as to protect privacy and minimize burden on your end .

Please revise my request as follows:

An extract from the PMP database (current as of the date this request is processed) that contains the following fields:

"filled_at"
"drug_name"
"patient_state"
"prescriber_state"

Please provide all data entries for which the field "drug_name" contains one or more of the following:
"vimpat"
"VIMPAT"
"lacosamide"
"LACOSAMIDE"

Please let me know if you have any questions about my revised request.

Best,

Good morning Shawn,
The public extract links listed in my last email contain the data you requested. Additionally, I recently received extract links for the 4th quarter of 2020, and the first two quarters of 2021 (included below).
http://pharmacyextract78y7hsslhhjuj.s3.amazonaws.com/import_all__24_2020_oct-dec_agsderwevsrtt.csv
http://pharmacyextract78y7hsslhhjuj.s3.amazonaws.com/import_all__25_2021_jan-mar_uiwerbvbsaduifwnGPC.csv
http://pharmacyextract78y7hsslhhjuj.s3.amazonaws.com/import_all__26_2021_apr-jun_flsdfiuwenvcnsswevTFJ.csv

Please be aware that the Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP) does not generate these data sets internally, the data sets are generated by Bamboo Health (previously Appriss Health) for a fee. While you could reach out to Bamboo Health about obtaining a custom data set, I’m guessing they would charge you for the service. Otherwise, you’ll just need to sort/filter the data sets in these links to exclude the fields/prescriptions to only contain the fields you are interested in.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Regards,
