Hello, Ms. Lustig. One of our programs that may have responsive information is asking for clarification. Are you requesting a database structure?

Hi Chris,

Thanks for getting back to me! I am not necessarily asking for the database structure, because I'm interested in the fields of data that DSHS is collecting, but I know that I can't ask you to create a new document for me. So, if the database structure includes that information, that's what I would like. For example, I'm interested in knowing if DSHS is tracking the region where the maternal death occurred, the marital status of the deceased, that kind of thing. Does that answer your question?

Best,
Adanya

So, would a list of fields would work for you?

Hi Chris,

Yes, a list of fields would be great. Thanks!

Best,

Adanya,

Generally, the data we have on the universe of maternal deaths is pulled from the data collected for all deaths in the death record (certificate). I've attached a copy of a checklist that shows each field on the death certificate.

There is more information evaluated for the maternal deaths that are actually reviewed by the Texas Maternal Mortality and Morbidity Task Force. For example, they review medical records, criminal justice records, etc. for the woman, but that information isn't collected in a database.

This will complete your request.

Chris
