Pursuant to the Tennessee Public Records Act, I hereby request the following records:

Under the Tennessee Open Records Act, §10-7-503 et seq., I am requesting records related to the following statutes: “HB0009” AKA House Bill 9, “SB0003” AKA Senate Bill 3, “HB0001” AKA House Bill 1, “SB0001” AKA Senate Bill 1, “SB0005” AKA Senate Bill 5, “HB1378” AKA House Bill 1378, “HB0030” AKA House Bill 30, “SB0841” AKA Senate Bill 841.

1. All records of internal memoranda, email correspondence, and other written communication sent and/or received by the members of the Tennessee General Assembly and the individuals named in the attachment to this request titled “TN_General Assembly_Attachment” from the year 2021 to the date this request is processed. Please limit your search to the following non-case-sensitive key-strings: “HB0009” “SB0003” “Senate Bill 3” “HB0001” “SB0001” “SB0005” “HB1378” “HB0030” “SB0841” “woke” “transgender” “drag” “hormone” “hormone replacement therapy” “adult cabaret entertainment” “purported identity” “biological sex” “asserted identity” “adult cabaret entertainment.” Responsive records should include email metadata (sender address, receiver address, time-stamps, etc.), the email subject, the body of the email, and any/all documents attached to each respective email sent/received.

The release of the information is for non-commercial purposes. I am a journalist with Insider, a news organization, whose mission is journalism in the public interest. If my request is denied in whole or part, I ask that you justify all deletions by reference to specific exemptions of the Tennessee Open Records Act. If you claim such an exemption to my request under the Tennessee Open Records Act, please cite in writing the specific statutory exemption. I reserve the right to appeal your decision to withhold any information or to deny a waiver of fees.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
