Good morning. Pursuant to Tenn. Code Ann. § 10-7-503(a)(7)(a) and the Department’s Open Records Policy, located at https://www.tn.gov/safety/publicsafety/openrecords.html, this Office requires proof of Tennessee citizenship to process your request. You can either 1) provide a photographic ID with your Tennessee address, which can be done in person or by mail, fax, or by e-mail, or 2) you can give the Department written authorization, under Departmental Rule 1340-08-01.03(2)(c) to “allow the Department to verify the address through the Department’s driver license system if the person does not wish to provide a copy of the driver license or other ID.” This will need to be done before any responsive records can be provided.
