The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

On behalf of the South Dakota Office of the Attorney General, I am responding to your public records request dated June 12, 2023, and received via fax by this Office the same day. You seek communications and investigative information in forty-nine different public records requests identified below by the "DEPT MR" number. Specifically, you seek:
DEPT MR 147352: All video footage, audio recordings, photos, collected between 1/20/23 and 1/31/23, related to Floyd Joseph Slow Bear (DOB: 1/9/67) who was an inmate at Pennington County Jail and died in custody on 1/31/23.
DEPT MR 147355: Any email, sent or received by any employee of your agency between 1/20/23 and 2/2/23, which includes the keywords "Slow Bear."
DEPT MR 147358: Medical records related to the death of Floyd Joseph Slow Bear (DOB 1/9/67), who died in custody at the Pennington County Jail on 1/31/23.
DEPT MR 147364: All video footage, audio recordings, photos, collected between 11/16/22 and 12/2/22, related to Abbey Lynn Steele (DOB: 5/17/02) who was an inmate at Pennington County Jail.
DEPT MR 147367: Any and all booking records and communications (electronic, hard copy, or otherwise), associated attachments, and related files sent to and from any employee, representative, or other officials of your office regarding Floyd Joseph Slow Bear (DOB: 1/9/67).
DEPT MR 147383: Medical records related to the death of Abbey Lynn Steele (DOB: 5/17/02).
DEPT MR 147386: Any and all booking records and communications (electronic, hard copy, or otherwise), associated attachments, and related files sent to and from any employee, representative, or other officials of your office regarding Abbey Lynn Steele between 11/16/22 and 1/1/2023.
DEPT MR 147390: 911 dispatch audio, transcripts, and radio transmissions between officers that occurred between 1:30PM and 3:00PM on 3/26/22.

DEPT MR 147397: Surveillance footage related to the investigation of the officer involved in a shooting that took place around 12:20PM on 2/3/23 at the Loaf 'N Jug at 1601 Haines Ave., Rapid City, SD, which resulted in the death of Eric James Wright (DOB: 11/15/82).
DEPT MR 147401: 911 dispatch audio, transcripts, and radio transmissions between officers, related to the investigation of the officer involved shooting which took place around 12:20PM on 2/3/23 at the Loaf 'N Jug at 1601 Haines Ave., Rapid City, SD, which resulted in the death of Eric James Wright (DOB: 11/15/82).

DEPT MR 147410: Medical records related to the death of Eric James Wright (DOB: 11/15/82), who was killed by Rapid City Police Department on 2/3/23 while responding to an incident at the Loaf 'N Jug at 1601 Haines Ave., Rapid City, SD.
DEPT MR 147415: Police camera recordings, such as responding officers body-cameras and dashcams, related to the Rapid City Police Department officer involved shooting that occurred at 100 Surfwood Drive (Knollwood Heights apartment complex), Rapid City, SD, around 10:00PM, on 1/18/23, resulting in the death of Ira Julian Wright (DOB: 11/22/88).

DEPT MR 147479: Medical records related to the death of Marvin Moran Jr., who was killed by Rapid City Police Department at 1565 Haines Avenue, around 10:30PM, on 7/26/22.

DEPT MR 147577: Surveillance footage related to the investigation of the officer involved shooting which took place on 8/9/22 at 2507 West 12th Street Sioux Falls, SD, which resulted in the death of Jacob Michael James (DOB: 12/15/2000).

DEPT MR 147592: Map of crime scene and other media gathered during the investigation of an incident regarding Sioux Falls Police Department use of deadly force which took place on 8/9/22 at 2507 West 12th Street Sioux Falls, SD, which resulted in the death of Jacob Michael James (DOB: 12/15/2000).

The type of documents you seek, if they exist and this Office is the custodian of those records, are not subject to disclosure under South Dakota's public records laws.
