- incident location (street address, city, state, ZIP where injury/infection occurred)

- cause(s) of death, with complete MOD and COD fields (indicating if COVID related)
- contributing factors
- any other accessible, non-exempt information contained in electronic case records

This request is part of an ongoing collaboration involving the Brown Institute for Media Innovation, the John S. Knight Journalism Fellowships at Stanford University, the MuckRock Foundation and partner newsrooms across the country. This request is part of a news-gathering process and is intended for educational, not commercial use.

We request expedited processing to the extent possible. This information is critical to the public’s understanding of the coronavirus pandemic and its local impact on public health. Attached is the Solano County Sheriff-Coroner's response to your recent Public Records Act request received October 26, and again November 5, 2020. This Excel spreadsheet includes all death records reported to the Sheriff-Coroner's Office from June 22, 2020 to date request received.

"Pending" indicates the Sheriff-Coroner's case is still open, pending test results to complete and close the file. "Redacted" indicates that the file remains open due to an open investigation and/or prosecution (Gov.Code 6254(f); Evid. Code 1040). Information has been provided as to Cause of Death Due to 2, Cause of Death Due to 3 for coronavirus/COVid-19 reportable only cases.
Additional Sheriff-Coroner's case information is exempt from disclosure pursuant to Civil Code sections 56.10, 56.11; Gov. Code sections 6254 (c), (k); Welfare & Institutions Code 5328.8; 42 CFR 164 et seq. "HIPAA"; Cal Con. Article 1, sec. 1 right to privacy).
