Hello,

My understanding is that City of Seattle Human Resources has previously provided salary records for all city employees to other requesters so it does not make sense to me that you would not have responsive records for this request.

Thank you,

Thank you for reaching out. I recently started in the position and am still learning, so I apologize I used an incorrect term. In the City of Seattle many departments have their own HR departments and they handle requests specific to their departments. That was my rationale for transferring this to Seattle Police Department, they have their own HR and Payroll departments that can get you this information. They are the subject matter experts in their department for any intricacies. Do you want to work with Seattle Police Department or continue to work with me? Based on your reply I'll work on getting the 20 years of data requested for all city employees. I'll need to send out a third party notice to our employees. Would you be ok if I can redact names of employees who request that for safety concerns?
Thank you for your patience.

Daniel Krahner

Please clarify the following:
Due to the size of the request, this is going to take some time to compile all of the data. I've been working with the subject matter experts (SME) and they have some data from a previous request that has dates from 2012-2022. The new data that needs to be pulled, 2002-2011 would be in a different format, would that be ok?
Are you looking for a list of employees as of 12/31 each year?
I'm expecting to have a first installment on or around August 18.
Thanks for clarifying.
Sincerely,
Seattle Human Resources Department

From: Seattle Human Resources

Dear Rose Terse,
Ok thanks for letting me know. Yes, we can run a report as of 12/31/xx and that will list all active employees at the close of the year. What this won't have is if someone left the city (either resigned, layoff, on leave, etc) during the year they won't show on the report. Does that make sense?
Sincerely,
Daniel Krahner

Dear Rose Terse,
Due to the size of the request we'll be getting to you in installments. I wanted to revisit redacting employee names that have safety concerns. In your response before you said you would prefer to leave employee names intact where possible. I want to clarify this. Can we redact names of those employees with a safety concern? The number of employees is under 30. Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Daniel Krahner

From: Rose Terse

Hi Daniel,

Thank you for getting back to me. Would you please clarify (as much as you are able) what you mean when you say "a safety concern"? Are you referring to court-issued protection orders?

Thank you,
Rose

From: Seattle Human Resources

--- Please respond above this line ---

Dear Rose Terse,
Yes, that is what I'm referring to. There is new legislation that passed in May, 2023, but we're still working on the process internally. Thanks for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Daniel Krahner

From: Rose Terse

Hello Daniel,

Thank you for the clarification. In that case, please do redact those names. Would you please provide an exact number of employees whose information will be redacted along with a link to the legislation you mentioned?

Thank you,
Rose
