Hi, thanks for sending this information. To clarify, my request items #1-4 referenced statistics showing the number of all uses of force by type of force used. This is broader than the use of force incidents causing death or serious injury/firearms discharges reported to the CA DOJ's URSUS program. Please send me the requested information.

Thanks!

Sam

Mr. Sinyangwe,

The Sheriff's Office is compiling and reviewing potential records that may be responsive to your request dated June 3, 2019. Due to your extensive records request, and the time required to research, compile, and where legally required, redact responsive records, the County will release responsive records on a rolling basis going forward. As records responsive to your request become ready for release, you will be notified. Please be advised that the California Public Records Act does not legally require a public entity to create new records to respond to a public records request. See Cal. Gov. Code, ยง 6252, subd. (e); Haynie v. Superior Court(2001) 26 Cal.4th 1061; 71 Ops.Cal.Atty.Gen. 235 (1988).
