From: Emma North-Best

To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to the California Public Records Act, I hereby request the following records:

Copies of any internal manuals, instructions, forms or checksheets for how the law enforcement agency processes records requests.

I am a member of the news media and request classification as such. I have previously written about the government and its activities, with some reaching over 100,000 readers. As my primary purpose is to inform about government activities by reporting on it and making the raw data available, I request that fees be waived.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 10 calendar days, as the statute requires.

Sincerely,

Emma Best

From: San Jose Police Department

Hello,

The San Jose Police Department is in receipt of your correspondence.

The Department recently received over 20 requests for public records on the same date, from the same outlet, with what appears to be automated language seeking follow up for the request. This language states the request had initially been submitted to personnel who worked at the Office of the City Manager. The Department confirmed that this request was not previously received and clarification will be required. However, due to the date of the original request, which does not reference a recent date, the Department would like to confirm that this request is still valid.

Please respond to this correspondence and advise if the requested information is still desired.

Thank you,

April Benoit #1180N
