Pursuant to the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, I hereby request the following records:
I would like to obtain any and all details related to accidents involving Tesla vehicles, both with and without the autopilot feature, that have been reported to or investigated by your department in the month of January 2023..
Specifically, I am requesting the following information:
1.) Date and time of the accident
2.) Location of the accident
3.) Names of drivers and passengers involved
4.) Vehicle make and model
5.) Whether the vehicle was equipped with the autopilot feature
6.) Details of the accident, including any citations or charges issued and the outcome of any investigations
7.) Any other relevant information related to the accident
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 5 business days, as the statute requires.

This responds to your Virginia Freedom of Information Act ("FOIA") request you submitted to the Prince William County Police Department for records related to motor vehicle crashes involving Tesla model vehicles for the month of January 2023. Please consider the following to be the Department's response to your request.
The information you're requesting pertains to "information or data" that may or may not be collected in a specific record. Please be advised, Virginia FOIA Laws pertain to records. For the purpose of transparency, we are providing you with the attached redacted records for the two (2) motor vehicles crashes relevant to your request. The records contain the information you've requested. However, it does not capture whether the vehicle was equipped with the autopilot feature.
Additional, Section §2.2-3706.1(E)(3) of the Code of Virginia (1950), as amended, states records may be withheld if the disclosure would constitute an unwarranted invasion of personal privacy. Therefore, it is in the Department's discretion to release or withhold this information. Our Department has exercised discretion and will not be releasing information the names, addresses, personal identifiers, or home addresses of the driver or other involved party.
Furthermore, Section §46.2-208 of the Code of Virginia (1950), as amended, states certain motor vehicle records are considered privileged information and not releasable. Therefore, driver's motor vehicle license numbers, insurance information, vehicle registration (tag) information has been redacted.
The cost of supplying this request is $14.91. Payment is due immediately and please make payment in accordance with the attached invoice. Please attach a copy of the invoice with your payment or reference "FOIA2023-0223".
