Pursuant to the Florida Sunshine Law, I hereby request the following records:

Any record reflecting or relating to the cancellation of the planned appearance of Prof. J. Michael Butler, who was scheduled to give a presentation to Osceola County School District teachers during January 2022. This request includes, but is not limited to, any emails to or from Prof. Butler, any emails mentioning Butler, any emails including the words "Long Civil Rights Movement," any emails including the words "critical race theory," any memoranda or notes (including notes taken during meetings or telephone calls), and any recording of any meeting (including Zoom recordings) relating to Butler's planned appearance. This request is limited to emails sent or received by Osceola County School District administrators or staff and does not seek a search of any email account or records held by any teacher, faculty member, or student. This request is limited to records generated between January 1, 2022 through January 24, 2022.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

This email is to give you an update on your public records request. The I.T. department has been running a search on electronic correspondence with the date range, name and the keywords you have provided in your request. At this time, the system search is still going and we are awaiting for the results. Due to the time it is taking for the search to complete, it is most likely that the results will be hundreds of emails.

We want to inform you before hand that a fee will be applied to fulfill this request. Once we have the results from I.T. we will provide you with an estimated cost (Estimate includes extensive time to locate, retrieve, review, redact and produce all responsive records).

Please keep in mind that the system searches all staff mailboxes with the specific filters you have identified. If you are able to provide names of specific administrators or staff email addresses, this will help the I.T. department narrow down the search.
