From: Rachel Premack

To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to the Oregon Public Records Law, I hereby request the following records:

I am requesting copies of public records regarding the public funding of commercial drivers' license training programs from 01/01/2018 to 12/31/2022. These programs are designed to prepare students to meet the qualifications to become a qualified entry-level commercial truck driver. Funds for these programs were made available through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act.

Specifically, I request information regarding the following:
- Budget documents for the full date range noted above, including planning documents, proposals, and research reports
- Spending reports
- Communications, including internal emails, press releases, and meeting notes and transcripts, that include the phrase "commercial drivers' license"

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 10 business days.

Sincerely,

Rachel Premack

ODOT does not provide direct training to individuals seeking a CDL. Rather, ODOT regulates CDL schools and trainers who provide that service. Here is a link if you would like more information: https://www.oregon.gov/odot/dmv/pages/dealers/drtrnschool.aspx

To request any records about this program, contact DMV directly through this page: https://www.oregon.gov/odot/DMV/Pages/Records/index.aspx

From: Rachel Premack

Dear Ms. Kunze,

Does ODOT provide any funding to CDL schools? My request does not pertain to ODOT training truck drivers directly, but rather funding that ODOT may provide to those schools in Oregon.

Thank you.

Best,
Rachel

From: Department Of Transportation

ODOT does not fund CDL training schools. A school earns its own revenue. As part of their registration, motor carrier companies pay a small fee to administer the oversight program.
