Pursuant to the Ohio Open Records Law, I hereby request the following records:

Information on all teachers and educational administrators employed by the municipality. Including but not limited the following:

- first name
- last name
- middle name
- sex
- race (if available)
- date of birth
- date hired
- Assigned School
- Grade taught
- salary (if available)

If any of the information is unavailable please indicate and I will amend the request.

Please provide this in spreadsheet format covering the dates January, 1, 2010 to the present

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Hello Sam,

I'm one of the data managers for staff data at the Ohio Department of Education, and I'll be happy to help you get what you need. The most expedient way for you to obtain these publicly available data is to use the DataOhio Portal, though you'll need to get an OH|ID account and request access to the secure dataset.

We can provide the following through the portal:
- first name
- last name
- sex
- race
- year of birth
- Assigned School
- salary (if available)

Furthermore, it is safe to assume that the first year an educator appears in the dataset is the first year that they were working. If you need specificity beyond what is publicly available, we can log a specific data request, though that will take more time to fulfill.

Since you need data at the individual level, the quickest way to get that is to request the individual line-level secure dataset through the same portal, which you can do here:

You should be aware that secure dataset file is quite large (millions of rows, nearly 1GB), as it contains everyone's records from all districts since 2006. You would need to do the filtering on your end, but approval typically takes place quickly.
