To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to the Texas Public Information Act, I hereby request the following records:

Part A: A list of all out-of-county human remains received from Hidalgo and Cameron Counties since October 15, 2020 that includes the Nueces County case number, date the remains were received, and the disposition/disposal of the remains.

Part B: A metadata list of all emails regarding postmortem examinations sent or received from January 1, 2020 to June 1, 2023 between the Nueces County Medical Examiner’s Office and Hidalgo County Justices of the Peace or any designee. Please provide for metadata information: Date sent, Sender, Attachments, File size, and Recipients (CC & BCC). If the agency’s position is that the existing meta-data necessary to provide this list is not a pre-existing agency record, I will instead accept each and every non-duplicative response mail.

Part C: All records of payments received by Nueces County from Hidalgo County for medical examiner services since January 4, 2021, pursuant to the “Interlocal Agreement for Performance of Postmortem Examinations by the Nueces County Medical Examiner,” indicating the Nueces County case numbers associated with each payment.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 10 business days, as the statute requires.

Sincerely,

Caroline Tracey
