Pursuant to the New York Freedom of Information Law, I hereby request the following records:
All records concerning the 1993 campaign of Ronald Reale, candidate for Public Advocate. The name of the campaign committee was Friends of Ron Reale.
This includes all donor records received from the campaign; all records of correspondence with the campaign and its representatives; all audits, investigations or reviews of the campaign; and any record discussing the campaign as a concern to law enforcement (i.e., referral and memoranda sent to the US Attorney's Office).
In 1998, Mr. Reale was tried and convicted of defrauding the NYCCFB in relation to a straw donor scheme. Granting release of the records serves the public interest, and there are no compelling privacy or investigative secrecy grounds for denial. To substantiate, find attached a contemporary press reprort of Mr. Reale's conviction.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
