Pursuant to the New York Freedom of Information Law, I hereby request the following records:

Under the New York State Freedom of Information Law (Public Officers Law §§ 84-90), I hereby request access to and copies of records detailing the current population of incarcerated individuals within state-operated facilities under the following categories:

The total number of individuals currently incarcerated for non-violent offenses, including a breakdown by each specific offense.
Detailed information on those incarcerated for drug-related offenses, including:
The specific type of drug-related offense (e.g., possession, distribution, manufacturing).
The quantity of the substance involved in the conviction, where applicable.
The sentencing length for each individual convicted of drug-related offenses.
Demographic information including age, race, and gender.
Statistical data on the recidivism rates of individuals incarcerated for non-violent, drug-related offenses.
I believe that the release of this information is in the public interest as it provides essential insights into the state's criminal justice system, particularly concerning the impact of drug policy and incarceration on communities. This information will contribute to ongoing public discussions and policy-making processes aimed at criminal justice reform.

Please provide the information in an electronic format if available, or printed copies if not digitally accessible.

I am aware that there may be costs associated with the retrieval and copying of these records. I am willing to pay fees for this request up to a maximum of $1000. Please notify me prior to your incurring any expenses exceeding this amount.
