Dear FOIA Officer,

Under the provisions of the New York State Freedom of Information Law, Article 6 of the Public Officers Law, I hereby request access to and copies of all records held by the New York City Law Department pertaining to:

1. Written communication including but not limited to records, letters related to legal proceedings against the City of New York.
2. Formal notices of intent to sue the City of New York.
3. Article 78 proceedings initiated against the City of New York.
4. Any judgments, settlements or resolutions of the aforementioned proceedings.

The time frame for the requested records is from January 1st, 2020 to the present time of processing this request.

Should any portion of the requested records be deemed exempt from disclosure, I request the release of any reasonably segregable non-exempt portions in accordance with Public Officers Law § 87(2). If an entire document is exempt, I request a justification, citing specific FOIL exemptions.

Please note your obligation under the law not to destroy any records potentially responsive to this request. Any withholding, redaction, or destruction of responsive records without proper justification constitutes a violation of the FOIL and is subject to litigation.

As an independent investigative journalist associated with TransparencyReport.pw, I believe that the information I seek is in the public interest and its disclosure contributes significantly to public understanding of the operations or activities of the government.

Enclosed is a letter requesting a fee waiver for the processing of this request.
