To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to the New York State Freedom of Information Law (1977 N.Y. Laws ch. 933), I hereby request the following records:

Data on dates and locations (stations) of fare evasion arrests in the New York City Subway system and demographics (age, race, gender only) of arrestees for the year 2013.

If there are any concerns with whether this request can be filled please refer to my previous request for similar data, which was fulfilled on appeal with the appeal ID 13PL102781.

I also request that, if appropriate, fees be waived as I believe this request is in the public interest. The requested documents will be made available to the general public free of charge as part of the public information service at MuckRock.com, processed by a representative of the news media/press and is made in the process of news gathering and not for commercial usage.

In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 5 business days, as the statute requires.

Sincerely,

Ingrid Burrington

To Whom It May Concern:

I'm writing an appeal for my request under FOIL #2014-PL-2901 and 2902. While the data I requested on certain demographic characteristics of fare evasion arrests was provided, it was in an aggregated total rather than by individual station (perhaps my wording was confusing in my original request). Seeing as I was able to receive data about demographic characteristics (age, race, gender) organized by station in a previous request (appeal ID 13PL102781), I imagine it's possible to provide the data in this format for this request.

As in my previous request, please let me know if you need me to cover the costs of delivering printed material.

Thanks for your time,

Ingrid Burrington
