Pursuant to the New York Freedom of Information Law, I hereby request the following records:

Any internal discussions of genetic sequencing or sequences as it relates to COVID cases by members of the department of education.

You may use phrases like "viral genome sequencing", "Genomic Sequencing", "SARS-CoV-2 genome", "rapid sequencing", and "Transmission chains".

I request you search the timeframe from January 1, 2020, until now.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 5 business days, as the statute requires.

In my July 28 communication, I requested assistance narrowing this request. I am disappointed that you have closed this request before or without responding to my request for assistance. I presume you could have suggested I explicitly specify certain types of records that you retain in a searchable form instead of merely denying the request.

Instead, consider this an appeal to reopen the request with the explicit specification to include any memos, emails, text searchable written records, or any other text searchable written records.
