Pursuant to the New York State Freedom of Information Law (1977 N.Y. Laws ch. 933), I hereby request the following records:
The police department manual for the State University of New York at Stony Brook.
("Because each police department is independently operated, each employs their own manual of procedures; a manual of procedures is a standard feature in any institution by no more so than within a police department. Yet, SUNY police department --- SUNY --- yet some SUNY police departments do not have a manual of procedures. This means that a police office has little or no direction as to how the university wishes to address a specific problem, thus liability issues arise.”

I also request that, if appropriate, fees be waived as I believe this request is in the public interest. The requested documents will be made available to the general public free of charge as part of the public information service at MuckRock.com, processed by a representative of the news media/press and is made in the process of news gathering and not for commercial usage.
In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Your March 26, 2014 request was received on that date. A written
acknowledgement letter was sent to you on March 31, 2014. I stated in the
letter that I anticipated being able to respond to your request within 20
business days from the date of the acknowledgement. I have asked the
appropriate record custodian to provide me with records that are responsive
to your request. At this time, I do not anticipate any delay in responding
to your request within the time frame I originally indicated. If, for some
reason, additional time is required to respond to your request I will
notify you.
