Pursuant to Section 1.23 of the rules and regulations of the Waterfront Commission of New York Harbor ("Access to records"), I hereby request the following:
Records concerning Anthony M. Scotto, who was a longshoreman (beginning approximately 1950) and president of the International Longshoreman's Association Local 1814. His date of birth was May 10, 1934; the first 5 digits of his Social Security Number are 088-24.
Mr. Scotto is known to be deceased; please see attached PDF for published report of death. Records should be released as privacy interests are diminished post-mortem; further, release of records is in the public interest as Scotto was active in both politics and in organized crime and played an outsized role in the history of New York and the region's waterfronts.
Records that may be responsive include the Waterfront Commission's records of employment and records of investigation.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
