Pursuant to the New Hampshire "Access to Government Records and Meetings" Statute (RSA Ch. 91-A), I hereby request the following records:

Any and all emails to and from the email address rhassett@hdsd.k12.nh.us - the work email address of Hillsboro Deering Superintendent Robert Hassett - between June 2012 and April 1, 2016.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 5 business days, as the statute requires.

Please be advised as counsel for the Hillsboro Deering School District you request for "Any and all emails to and from email address rhassett@hdsd.k12.nh.us<mailto:rhassett@hdsd.k12.nh.us> for the period between June 2012 and April 1, 2016 has been referred to me for response. As you may be aware, "governmental records" subject to disclosure under 91-A are limited to those records prepared "in furtherance of [its] official function." Additionally, certain records or emails (for example, those with counsel) would be protected from disclosure. Moreover, your request as stated would include thousands of pages and be very costly to copy and produce. Finally, as I believe you know, last year you made similar requests of the District which were ultimately withdrawn. In fairness, the District believes the motive for this request is not directed toward public disclosure but, rather to efforts to inconvenience the Superintendent. Therefore, the District requests that you limit your request by providing some parameters such as subject matter of interest or particular addresses or recipients of emails concerning Mr. Hassett. The District will consider your request when you respond.
