Pursuant to the Nevada Public Records Act, I hereby request the following records:

A copy of all data related to citations for marijuana possession on the state and local levels. I am specifically seeking any statistics related to the total number of arrests and/or citations for offenses related to marijuana as well as the ethnicity, age, sex, and other demographic information of the persons arrested and/or cited, if available. The time frame for which I am seeking records is from January 2011 through December 2014.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public free of charge as part of the public information service at MuckRock.com, and is not being made for commercial usage.

In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 5 business days, as the statute requires.

Dear Mr. Anderson,

Please review the attachments relating to the State of Nevada's arrest data for 2011-2014 as requested for Marijuana Possession. As indicated in the 1st attachment, we do not receive or maintain citation data for any offenses in Nevada as such we were only able to provide you with arrest data. The 2nd attachment is a workbook containing multiple tabs relating to Nevada Revised Statues (NRS) which are the laws governing the offenses for which you are seeking data. The data within each tabs contains the Nevada Offense Code (NOC) for which an individual would be booked under, the crime description, the ethnicity, age and sex of the offender. If there is arrest data for the time period specified the totals will be indicated, but if there were no offenses for the specific time period the tab will indicate the crime description but will not contain data.
