Pursuant to the Nebraska Public Records Statutes, I hereby request the following records:
All procedures and policies related to the handling of inmate grievances.
I also request that, if appropriate, fees be waived as I believe this request is in the public interest. The requested documents will be made available to the general public free of charge as part of the public information service at MuckRock.com, processed by a representative of the news media/press and is made in the process of news gathering and not for commercial usage.
In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 4 business days, as the statute requires.

I am writing in response to your request for certain Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) public records pertaining to inmate grievances. Specifically, you request copies of "All procedures and policies related to the handling of inmate grievances". The records you request are available on-line. The NDCS Administrative Regulation titled "Inmate Grievance Procedures" can be found on the NDCS website. To access the information, go to http://www.corrections.state.ne.us/index.html. Then click on the "Rule & Regs" tab, then the bullet in the middle of the page labeled "Rights, Responsibilities & Services", then A.R. 217.01 "Inmate Grievance Procedures". The NDCS promulgated rule pertaining to the inmate grievance procedure can be found on the Nebraska Secretary of State's website. That website is www.sos.ne.gov. Once on the website, click on the "Current Rules and Regulations" tab, then "Browse Rules and Regulations by Agency", then "Correctional Services, Department of", then "Title 68". The grievance procedures are in Chapter Two of Title 68.
