To Whom It May Concern:

This is a records request pursuant to the California Public Records Act and the San Francisco Sunshine Ordinance. It is not an IDR, but I would appreciate confirmation that you received this request.

I am researching the recently released video game Watch Dogs 2 by Ubisoft. The game is a very rich, open world treatment of San Francisco, including an exquisite rendering of San Francisco City Hall. I would very much like to learn to what extent local government was involved in the project overall or otherwise done work with Ubisoft.

Accordingly, I am seeking the following records:
1) All agency records regarding the video game Watch Dogs 2
2) All communications between the department and Ubisoft from Jan 1., 2010 through Feb. 3, 2017.

I am filing this request with several departments. Even if your department doesn't have responsive records, I would appreciate it greatly if you could point me in the right direction. Who else might have responsive records?

Some boilerplate; The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes. In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for processing this request. It's quite possible you may have nothing at all. But please let me know if you think another department may have records.

Sincerely,

Dave Maass

Hi Dave,

I've never heard of this and do not believe our department had anything to do with this. If you find evidence to the contrary, let me know and I can get to the bottom of it.

Hi Kate,

Thanks for the response. I wasn't necessarily expecting the Arts Commission to have records, but I thought it was possible Ubisoft might have sought feedback from y'all.

It's a pretty fun video game FWIW
