Greetings,

Pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, I request the following record, which is suspect is held by DARPA:

The Journal of Missile Defense Research, Volume 5, Number 1.

I suspect the record may be associated with the identifier "AD 386 209L" and probably dates from the mid to late 1960s. I note that in request #20-F-0461, you released the cumulative index of the journal, which appears to itself be a subset of Volume 5 of the Journal.. This leads me to suspect the agency possess the remainder.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

I am willing to pay all applicable fees, however in the event that there are fees will exceed $50 I would appreciate if if you could inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your help. I understand the request may be delayed by the ongoing public health situation. I hope you and everyone there are staying well.

Sincerely,

Joseph Durso

From: Office Of Secretary Of Defense And Joint Chief Of Staff (OSD/JS)

Dear Mr. Durso:

This email is in reply to your Freedom of Information Act request of April
2, 2020, for a copy of the *Journal of Missile Defense Research*,
specifically Volume 5, Number 1. It was forwarded to us by the Freedom of
Information Division of the Department of Defense. Your request was
received in this office on June 24. It has the tracking number 20-38530.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and pursuant to guidance received from the
Office of Management and Budget (OMB), the National Archives and Records
Administration (NARA) has adjusted its normal operations to balance the
need of completing its mission-critical work while also adhering to the
recommended social distancing for the safety of our staff. As a result of
this re-prioritization of activities, we are unable to provide a
substantive response to requests that require us to consult the records at
this time. We apologize for this inconvenience and appreciate your
understanding and patience.

We will continue to process your request when the National Archives resumes
normal operations. For updates on the status of Research Rooms, please
visit https://www.archives.gov/coronavirus. We have series of records of
the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, in particular among the
Records of the Office of the Secretary of Defense (Record Group 330). An
initial search of available finding aids for the journal was not successful.

We do not consider this a denial of your FOIA request. However, if you are
not satisfied with our action on this request, your options for appeal and
dispute resolution are outlined in the attached enclosure. This concludes
the processing of your request.

Sincerely,

M. A. GEDRA
