Pursuant to the North Carolina Public Records Law, I hereby request the following records:

1) A copy of any threatening email (or any report concerning any threatening email) to the Durham County Library on or about Saturday, April 13, 2024.

2) Any recording of, transcript of, or report concerning any threatening phone call to the Durham County Library on or about Saturday, April 13, 2024.

3) A copy of any threatening email (or any report concerning any threatening email) sent to WBTV on April 13, 2024.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Good afternoon,

Your request for a copy of any threatening emails, to the extent any such records exist, constitutes a record of a criminal investigation pursuant to GS 132-1.4 and are not public records.

§ 132-1.4. Criminal investigations; intelligence information records; Innocence Inquiry Commission records.

Records of criminal investigations conducted by public law enforcement agencies, records of criminal intelligence information compiled by public law enforcement agencies, and records of investigations conducted by the North Carolina Innocence Inquiry Commission, are not public records as defined by G.S. 132-1. Records of criminal investigations conducted by public law enforcement agencies or records of criminal intelligence information may be released by order of a court of competent jurisdiction. 

Staff will be in contact to provide a public copy of the incident report and CAD report.
