Pursuant to the Massachusetts Public Records Law, M.G.L. c.66, §10, I hereby request the following records:

A copy of all briefs, memos, directives, PowerPoint slides, guidelines or other documents concerning the countering violent extremism (CVE) model developed by the Greater Boston Regional Collaborative.

A copy of all records that define, display, present, state, update, clarify, teach, or explain Boston's model for CVE.

A copy of all emails, letters, and other written communication between Boston Police officers and between the Boston Police Department and other governmental partners concerning CVE.

You can restrict your search to records created after January 1, 2014 to the date this request is processed.

I also request that, if appropriate, fees be waived as we believe this request is in the public interest, as suggested but not stipulated by the recommendations of the Massachusetts Supervisor of Public Records. The requested documents will be made available to the general public free of charge as part of the public information service at MuckRock.com, processed by a representative of the news media/press and is made in the process of news gathering and not for commercial usage.

I expect the request to be filled in an accessible format, including for screen readers, which provide text-to-speech for persons unable to read print. Files that are not accessible to screen readers include, for example, .pdf image files as well as physical documents.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Attached please find documents responsive to your request. Additionally,
and specific to your request, the Department is relying on existing
programs and community partnerships that are part of its mission of
community policing as opposed to creating new CVE programs. Assuming that
this information is responsive to your request, the Department's
documentation of this approach, which does not create any specific CVE
programs, is exempt from disclosure by M.G.L. c.4 s 7(26)(f) and (n).
Specifically, the documents relate on ongoing development of policy
positions within the Department and include investigatory materials, the
disclosure of which would prejudice the possibility of effective law
enforcement. The protection of such investigatory materials and reports is
essential to ensure that the Department can continue to monitor and control
criminal activity and thus protect the safety of private citizens.
