Hi,

I met with the Ombudsman and they relayed that the Baltimore County Police Department requested a special accommodation to produce only first initials of first names rather than full first names. After discussion with our legal counsel, we would like to compel the department to produce full first names of officers rather than just first initials, in addition to middle and last names.

We would also like to request a fee waiver for public interest, as we believe our citizens deserve to know exactly who in their jurisdictions are legally allowed to carry deadly weapons. We
have an annual budget of less than $1000, and maintain a website (bpdwatch.com) to assist in the transparency of public data using the records we receive.

If you require any more information from us, please let me know. Otherwise we will assume you are able to produce the records in the timeframe you had specified to the Ombudsman (~2 weeks).

best,
Dan Staples

Good Morning Mr. Staples,

The custodian had a question regarding your request. In your initial request you wanted the list of sworn officers of the Baltimore County Police Department as of June 1, 2020. Are you still seeking the information from that specified date or the current list? Please advise. Thank you.

Joy
