Pursuant to the Colorado Open Records Act, I hereby request the following records:
A copy of all records related to Sheriff Terry Maketa participation in a trip to Israel which began April 10, 2011 and concluded on April 16, 2011 and was sponsored by the American Israel Education Foundation (AIEF)
This includes, but is not restricted to, any applications submitted by the Sheriff related to the trip and all documents associated with said applications, e-mails sent or received by the Sheriff about the trip, the itinerary of the trip, and any background materials and recent articles on current Israeli issues sent to the Sheriff in preparation for the program.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 3 business days, as the statute requires.

Our office received your CORA request for a copy of all records related to Sheriff Terry Maketa's participation in a trip to Israel which began April 10, 2011-April 16, 2011. This request includes, but is not restricted to, any applications submitted by the Sheriff related to the trip and all documentation associated with said applications, emails sent or received by the Sheriff about the trip, the itinerary of the trip and any background materials and recent articles on current Israeli issues sent to the Sheriff in preparation for the program. This is going to require extensive research through different databases to acquire this information. I wanted to make you aware of the fee for researching, retrieving and, if necessary, redacting requested information. For any requests for voluminous records falling under CORA, research and retrieval fees will be charged if the research and retrieval takes more than one hour to do. Any such research and retrieval fees for time in excess of one hour will be calculated by the hourly wage of the lowest-paid employee capable of performing the work. Such fee for research and retrieval shall not, however, exceed $30.00 per hour. Please let me know if you would like for our office to proceed in researching and retrieving the information you requested. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Thank you for your prompt response. In principle I'm happy to pay fees within reason, but I'd be happy to make this request less voluminous so that its easier for you to process and lighter on my wallet.
What if I were to modify the request to cover: All emailed communications and their corresponding email attachments (if any) with Sheriff Terry Maketa that include the keywords: "American Israel Education Foundation", or "AIEF", or "AIPAC", or "American Israel Public Affairs Committee" or any emailed communications with Sheriff Terry Maketa and the domain aipac.org or aiefdn.org
Presumably that would limit us to a single database? Happy to negotiate further if that would be helpful.
