Mr. Lawrence:

The Missouri Department of Public Safety has received your Jan. 13, 2017 request for information under Missouri Sunshine Law (attached). In compliance with Chapter 610 of the Missouri Revised Statutes, this message serves as our initial response within three business days. Public access and/or copies of the records you requested are not immediately available.

Additional time is required to research, search for, and/or duplicate any records that are responsive to your request and are open pursuant to Chapter 610 of the Missouri Revised Statutes. Furthermore, in the event any information in the records is exempt from disclosure, additional time will be required to redact the information exempt from disclosure prior to providing public access and/or copies.

For these reasons, we anticipate a further response will be provided to you within 10 business days.

Mr. Lawrence:

This email is the Department of Public Safety's second response to your Jan. 13, 2017 request for information under the Missouri Sunshine Law (the first response is below).

The Department of Public Safety continues to work to process your request. We now estimate we will require 10 additional business days to research, search for, and/or duplicate the records that are responsive to your request and open, and to identify any documents or portions of documents that are exempt from disclosure or that require redactions.

We estimate the Department will incur the following expenses to respond to your request: nine hour of labor to research, search for, duplicate and legal review of documents at a total cost of $577.24 and photocopying approximately 100 pages of documents at a total cost of $10.00. Therefore, the total cost to you or MuckRock would be $587.24.

Please let me know if you would like the Department to proceed with processing your request by email to this email address or by U.S. Mail at the following address:

Mike O'Connell
Department of Public Safety
Office of the Director
Lewis & Clark State Office Bldg., 4th Floor West
1101 N. Riverside Dr.

Mr. O'Connell,

Thank you for your response. Out of respect for the time and resources of everyone involved, I'd like to consider limiting my request. Is there an executive summary or abstract as a part of the responsive documents? If so, I would be happy to start there and request more if necessary.

Thank you for your time,

Nathan Lawrence

From: O'Connell, Mike

Mr. Lawrence,

The closest thing to an executive summary would be the four issues identified by DPS as "critical issues" during the transition period, along with the departmental overview of the department that was also submitted. There were a total of four critical issues that were identified and the attached represent the entire submissions for each of them (there were no redactions).

Let me know if this satisfies you modified request of Feb. 3, which is below.
