To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act, I hereby request the following records:

Any and all records reflecting this agency's reason(s) for denying my previous data request, which read as follows: "All data in the probation case file about Melanie Lynn Razo, dob 1/29/82, dod 10/25/17." This includes everything probation has in their electronic case file."

Specifically, I seek access to any internally created documents that reflect this agency's deliberative process in concluding that such data could not be disclosed to the mother (me) of the decedent (Melanie Razo). This includes emails, handwritten notes, or any other written record created in response to my original data request, which I filed on 8/12/19.

In addition, I respectfully request any and all internal policies and procedures regarding how the Minnesota Department of Corrections discloses data on deceased probationers to surviving family members.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 10 business days.

Sincerely,

Connie Johnson

We have sent a response to the MuckRock team as this request should go to a different agency. As the subject of inquiry has no history of being incarcerated and committed to the MN DOC, we are not able to respond back to your request in regards to records and policy documents. As the subject of inquiry served on a probation level to a county corrections, we are directing you to get in contact with the Community Corrections Act agencies where the subject was last committed to serve under. The State and County/Probation does not share records. We also highly suggestion getting records from the MN Courts Districts.
