Pursuant to the Michigan Freedom of Information Act, I hereby request the following records:
The following materials regarding the imposition, assessment, collection and balances of inmate fees and debt:
a) All current policies and procedures regarding medical and room & board costs or fees for which inmates are or may become liable. b) All reports, databases, spreadsheets, or equivalent materials regarding debts/restitution paid to or owed to this department or any facility/agency under its jurisdiction in FY2021. Good Morning,
"On 02/07/2023, our department received check #10851, dated 02/01/2023, for $73.49. Please refer to the response form sent to you dated 01/23/2023 indicating that once the department receives a deposit, a written notice will be issued within approximately 60 business days (not including weekends or holidays) concerning the balance due and exemptions from disclosure, if any, and your remedial rights if applicable.
Therefore, your request will be processed and completed under the FOIA statute and the MDOC departmental procedures and protocols. Please note we process ALL payments in the order received. The best-efforts date when you can expect a written response would be 05/04/2023. Please also note that this is only an estimate, and the time frame estimated is "nonbinding" upon the public body. Per MCL 15.234(8), it requires the public body to include a "best-efforts estimate" regarding the time frame it will take the public body to complete the processing of the request after receipt of the 50% deposit payment. We have provided the best-efforts estimate. We will strive to do our best to get a written response to you by the quoted estimated date.
Please do not hesitate to contact me directly at the email address below should you have any questions. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.
