Freedom of Information Act Request

To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to the Michigan Freedom of Information Act, I hereby request the following records:

Any and all data reflecting the sharing or transmission of any of the following fields of information — either by line item, aggregate or partial form — that has been provided to others outside of the Michigan State Police (MSP), including but not limited to lawmakers, academics, auditors, advocates and/or reporters.

One or more of the following categories of information about current or former registrants who were adjudicated for an offense when they were under 18 years of age.

Age at the time of offense and/or age at time of adjudication
Offense for which registration was required
Race/Ethnicity
Gender
County
If they were adjudicated of a subsequent registerable offense, and the offense
If they were convicted of a subsequent registerable offense, and the offense
If they were adjudicated of a subsequent non-registerable offense, and the offense
If they were convicted of a subsequent non-registerable offense, and the offense
If no longer a registrant, reasons for removal (set-aside, consensual petition, other petition, death, moved out of state, etc.)
Years on the registry

If there are any fees for searching or copying these records, please inform me if the cost will exceed $200. However, as a member of the news media, I would also like to request a waiver of all fees in that the disclosure of the requested information is in the public interest and will contribute significantly to the public’s understanding of public safety and sex offender management. This information is not being sought for commercial purposes.

If you deny any or all of this request, please cite each specific exemption you feel justifies the refusal to release the information and notify me of the appeal procedures available to me under the law.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
