Unidentified Deceased Persons Information - Merced County Coroner

To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to the California Public Records Act, I hereby request the following records:

Any information regarding the total number of active unidentified deceased persons cases ("John Doe" or "Jane Doe" cases) that the Merced County Coroner's Office is currently responsible for, dating from the earliest possible case on record, to the active case opened the closest of the date that this request is received.

Please conduct the broadest possible search for any information (excel files, PowerPoint Presentations, Word documents, PDFs, email correspondence with the DOJ's NamUs program, etc.) that would help to definitively state the total number of unidentified deceased persons that the Merced County Coroner's Office is responsible for.

I am curious about missing and unidentified persons cases nationwide, and I am curious why Merced County is not listed in NamUs and why there is no information about the total number of unidentified deceased persons cases in the county. Thank you for your commitment to transparency.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
