From: Todd Feathers

To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to the Massachusetts Public Records Law, M.G.L. c.66, §10, I hereby request the following records:

A list of all private schools in Massachusetts that have been placed on probationary status since 2005, including the date they were assigned such status and the date (if applicable) when such status was removed.

I also request that, if appropriate, fees be waived as we believe this request is in the public interest, as suggested but not stipulated by the recommendations of the Massachusetts Supervisor of Public Records. The requested documents will be made available to the general public free of charge as part of the public information service at MuckRock.com, processed by a representative of the news media/press and is made in the process of news gathering and not for commercial usage.

I expect the request to be filled in an accessible format, including for screen readers, which provide text-to-speech for persons unable to read print. Files that are not accessible to screen readers include, for example, .pdf image files as well as physical documents.

In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 10 business days, as the statute requires.

Sincerely,

Todd Feathers

Hello,

The website you've linked appears not to have been updated since September 20, 2013. Can you please verify this was the correct URL to download responsive documents?

Thank you.

Mr. Feathers,

Although the most recent notice on the site took place is dated in September of 2013, until recently the website did not reflect this information. The Department has updated the website to include information about Harbor Schools, Holyoke St School, Hallmark School, Ivy Street School, Seaport Academy, and Schools for Children, Inc.

This link looks very similar to the one I sent to you last time, but it has been updated and now contains all the information you have requested.

Mr. Feathers, the Legal Office received the attached "follow up" record request. The email chain, below, contains the Department's response to your request. In short, all information that you have requested is listed on our website. The updates to the website that I referred to earlier ensure that all records you've requested can be located on the DESE website.

I hope this helps,
- Josh
