To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to the Massachusetts Public Records Law, M.G.L. c.66, ยง10, I hereby request the following records:

Copies of the most recent annual asset forfeiture audit reports filed by all state or local law enforcement agencies with the Attorney General's office. State law (Chapter 94c Section 47) requires that all agencies that are eligible for equitable sharing of asset forfeiture proceeds must file such an audit on an annual basis:

"Any program seeking to be an eligible recipient of said funds shall file an annual audit report with the local district attorney and attorney general. Such report shall include, but not be limited to, a listing of the assets, liabilities, itemized expenditures, and board of directors of such program."

I also request that all fees be waived as I am a journalist -- employed by the Boston Globe -- and intend to use any pertinent information I receive as a result of this request to educate the public on the workings of the government, namely the state's asset forfeiture practices.

I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 10 calendar days, as the statute requires.

Sincerely,

Todd Feathers
