Hello Heather,

Thank you so much for the response. Please do pursue item #’s 10, 13 and 14. Those are of great interest.

Additionally, are you aware of which police departments or agencies in the state do collect the information contained in those 3 items regarding actions taken by departments other than your own? Or in order to obtain the total number of firearms relinquished to law enforcement, firearms returned after the expiration of the order, and firearms that were not returned after the expiration of the order because the respondent was prohibited from firearm possession in the state would I need to contact every police and sheriff's department, as well as each state law enforcement agency?

Thank you.

Hello Heather, I am following up on the above communication.
Could you please clarify: first I was told you could provide records pertaining to "items #‘s 10, 13 and 14, we may be able to locate this information, but ONLY for our agency, which in all would be a very small number, compared to the number for the state." To which I asked for the those records.
Then I was told "This letter is to inform you that after an extensive search, the Maryland State Police does not appear to have any records responsive to your request."
Are those records available? If so, may I please access them?

Hello Heather,

Thank you so much for the response. Please do pursue item #’s 10, 13 and
14. Those are of great interest.

Additionally, are you aware of which police departments or agencies in the
state do collect the information contained in those 3 items regarding
actions taken by departments other than your own? Or in order to obtain the
total number of firearms relinquished to law enforcement, firearms returned
after the expiration of the order, and firearms that were not returned
after the expiration of the order because the respondent was prohibited
from firearm possession in the state would I need to contact every police
and sheriff's department, as well as each state law enforcement agency?

Thank you.

*RE: PIA# 24-0478Requesting: 1. Data involving
Domestic Violence Restraining/Protection Orders (DVRO)*

Dear Requester:

On February 12, 2024, the Maryland State Police received your request under
the Public Information Act (Annotated Code of Maryland, General Provisions
Article §§4-101 through 4-60) seeking the above-captioned information.

This letter is to inform you that the Maryland State Police does not appear
to be the custodian of the items requested, specifically #’s 1-9, 11, and
12. Regarding items #’s 10, 13 and 14, we may be able to locate this
information, but ONLY for our agency, which in all would be a very small
number, compared to the number for the state.

If you would like me to explore items #’s 10, 13 and 14, please let me know
and I will follow up. Otherwise, you may want to redirect your request to
the Maryland Court System at 410-260-1430 or click here

for more information.
