Hello Ms. Canelli,

Thank you for taking the time to speak with me this afternoon and help me to identify the proper destination for my inquiry.

Pursuant to the Maine Freedom of Access Act ("FOAA"), I hereby request the following records:

• Reports of fraud and other indiscretions made to the Maine State Auditor from January 1, 2013 through the present day, including but not limited to:
* the database created from phone calls made to the Maine State Auditor's Fraud Hotline
* submissions from the section labeled "3. Information about the Incident/Situation" from the "Confidential Online Complaint Form" found at https://www.maine.gov/audit/fraud/fraudform.htm

I also request that, if appropriate, fees be waived as we believe this request is in the public interest, as suggested but not stipulated by 1 M.R.S.A. § 408(6). The requested documents will be made available to the general public free of charge as part of the public information service at MuckRock.com, processed by a representative of the news media/press and is made in the process of news gathering and not for commercial usage.

In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

As the statute requires a response to this request within 10 business days, I look forward to hearing from you and appreciate all your help and cooperation.

All the best,

Beryl C.D. Lipton

Dear Ms. Lipton,

First, I would like to apologize for any confusion, but this is the first email that I have received for this request after our conversation on January 27th.

Great News though! The information that you are requesting can be found on our website www.maine.gov/audit
After you go to our website, look to the left, there is a button that says fraud hotline, with a little red phone, click on that and then fraud reports. There are several dated semiannual reports and they contain your requested information.
The report for January 1, 2014 through June 30, 2014, will not be completed until July, but when it is, it will be posted on our website.
If you have any questions, or if I can be of further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me at 207-624-6286.
Thank you,
Dottie Canelli
