King County recently completed production of a very similar Public Records Act request that was opened in 2016, and most of the records produced for that request can be produced for you relatively quickly. However, King County did not review or produce Rhonda Berry's records for that request after the customer withdrew that portion of the request due to labor union objections to the release.

Thank you for the clarification on the Berry records search.

We are still gathering all of the records for the remaining 8 email inboxes. The prior records request was completed in 33 installments with the help of a records database. The .pst files were labeled “PRODxxx” for the production numbers. I have uploaded 4 of the productions thus far and I have asked to have the remaining batches of productions downloaded from the database.

I anticipate having this all complete by October 12, but I will do my best to have them to you sooner. I will report back on or before September 26.

I received a copy of a paper letter from you dated 9/7 that read:

“Thank you, that is helpful information. Of the thirty three (33) total installments you reference we have received “PROD016,” “PROD017,” “PROD018” and “PreDISCOInstallments.” The numbered installments seem self explanatory, the PreDISCOInstallments file requires explanation. Is the PreDISCOInstallments file 1 of the 33 total files?”

It is a little complicated and my keeping the original naming convention did not make it very clear. My record shows that there were 38 installments of records produced in response to the 2016 request. Of the 38 installments, 5 were produced by staff and the next 33 were produced with the assistance of the Discovery database. Each one of the installments from Discovery was labeled a production, or PROD. (So PROD 001 from Discovery was actually installment 6, overall.) The file labeled “PreDISCOInstallments” contains the records produced in the first 5 installments, prior to King County using the Discovery database to review and produce later installments. The database manufacturer refers to their software as “DISCO,” which I used when naming that file. So in actuality you will receive 33 “production” files and the file named “PreDISCOInstallments” for a total of 34 separate files.

I could have renamed the PROD files to make it simpler, but keeping the original PROD names helped me stay organized and recognize the gaps in the records that I have available to me. We are still gathering the remaining productions from the DISCO database and I hope to get another batch to you within the next week. I want to add that I did not receive a 9/7 email from you, so I apologize for the delay in responding to you. I don’t see a message in a junk folder so I’m not sure what happened. Fortunately, it appears that you are able to receive email messages from me.
