All current policies maintained by the department regarding vehicle pursuits (also known as: car chase, vehicular response policy, vehicular pursuit procedure).

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 5 business days, as the statute requires.

Greetings:

The Kennewick Police Department is in receipt of your public disclosure request seeking:

1. All current policies maintained by the department regarding vehicle pursuits (also known as: car chase, vehicular response policy, vehicular pursuit procedure).

At this time our office is experiencing a change in personnel staffing. During this transition period, additional time is necessary to research, compile, review and copy records for your request. I estimate providing records on or before 8/4/2023. If we are able to provide a response sooner, or if additional time is necessary, we will promptly notify you.

All electronic copies are transmitted through our online portal. The current fee is $6.27 for the first 15 files. Our fee schedule is changing August 1 and we will advise you of the fee due at the time of our response on or before August 4. You must claim* the records on or before September 2, 2023 using ONE of the following options:

1. FREE! LOOK AT THE RECORDS IN PERSON (no copies). Please contact me to arrange an appointment.

Appointments are scheduled Tuesday - Friday (8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.) subject to availability.

Appointments must conclude before 4:30 p.m.

Appointments are not available on federal holidays.

2. PAY $7.48 TO RECEIVE DIGITAL DOWNLOADS - no appointment. Records will be made available for download no longer than four business days after your payment is received (and typically within the same day). This charge includes a transmission fee of $7.48.

· ​Without claiming the files this request will be automatically closed as abandoned as the final and definite action with no further notice to you. (See: RCW 42.56.120(4) and KMC 1.40.170)

If you no longer need the records, please notify me you wish to withdraw your request on or before the claim deadline.

· This will prevent your account from being flagged with an abandoned request.

· There is no penalty for withdrawing your request on or before this date.

Abandoned requests result in consequences you may wish to avoid: (See: RCW 42.56.120(4) and KMC 1.40.170)

· When requests are abandoned, the copies are destroyed.

· Original records are subject to the state retention schedule and may not be available in the future.

· Please plan ahead for deadline dates which fall on weekends or holidays.

· Postmarks are not accepted in lieu of timely payment.

· Persons who allow their requests to abandon must pay a 10% deposit for future requests.

If claiming via payment, do not send more or less than described above.
