To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to the Iowa Open Records Law (Code Chapter 22), I hereby request the following records:

A log of public records requests submitted to the Governor's office that lists the date of request, the requester's name, the requester's organizational affiliation, a description of the request and the date the request was filled. Ideally I would like this information for the period from 2004 to the present.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public free of charge as part of the public information service at MuckRock.com, and is made in the process of academic research and not for commercial usage.

In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter.

Sincerely,

Erik Peterson

Erik,

Our office received your open records request today. You requested, "A log of public records requests submitted to the Governor's office that lists the date of the request, the requester's name, the requester's organizational affiliation, a description of the request and the date the request was filled from 2004 to present." Our office the information you requested posted on our website every month from January 2011 - present day. The link is: https://governor.iowa.gov/news/open_records/.

For records from previous governors (2004-2010), you would need to make the request to the State Archives. For your convenience, I am cc-ing Jeffrey Dawson from the State Archives. You may reach out to Mr. Dawson directly to make a request for records from previous governors.

Erik,

I am in receipt of the message, below, from Larry Johnson in the Office of Governor. I am currently examining the inventory of Office of Governor records that have been transferred to the State Archivist for the record information you requested. I will certainly let you know of results, and will also let you know if additional time may be needed to thoroughly complete the inventory examination.

Please understand, also, that access to records of the Vilsack (1999-2007) and Culver (2007-2011) administration records is conditioned by requirements imposed by those Governors for review by the former Governors' representatives prior to release of record information. I will advise the Governors' representatives of your request, also, so that they may review any records located prior to making them available.

Will you please let me know if you have further questions, also?

Just an update, Erik: I am still working on looking for the information you are seeking. The information was not included in the first range of records I examined, thus I need now to look at some additional records that are held in another storage facility. I hope to be able to do so the next few days, and will let you know as soon as I am able of results.
