Subject: Iowa Open Records Law Request: Anti-Abortion Agencies Requests (Department of Public Health)

To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to the Iowa Open Records Law, I hereby request the following records:

Materials related to requests for information regarding abortion services. Please include as responsive:

1. Any public records requests, as well as any provided responses or responsive materials, submitted by groups with a publicly known focus on anti-abortion and pro-life sentiments. Please include but do not limit responsive materials to those referencing the following organizations:
- Pro-Life Action League
- National Right to Life
- Check My Clinic
- The Center for Medical Progress
- Coalition for Life
- Operation Rescue
- Right to Life.

If there is a group, like a local city group, that has this sentiment but was not listed, please also provide their requests as well.

2. All communications, from Jan. 1, 2015 to present day, between your agency and representatives of the following organizations:
- Pro-Life Action League
- National Right to Life
- Check My Clinic
- The Center for Medical Progress
- Coalition for Life
- Operation Rescue
- Right to Life.

3. Any and all requests and documents with following words:
ABORTION
PREGNANCY TERMINATION
TERMINATION OF PREGNANCY
UNBORN BABIES
INDUCED ABORTION
FETAL TISSUE
PARTIAL BIRTH ABORTION
TELEMEDICINE

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 10 business days, as the statute requires.

Subject: Open Records Request

Shafaq,

Thank you for your Open Records request, received today by the Iowa Dept.
of Public Health. In regards to the first item, there have been no public
record requests filed by any of the listed organizations.

An email search can be performed for organizations listed in the second
item of your request. Depending up on the number of emails that require
review, a charge may be required. You will be notified if that is the case.
You may find the fee schedule at
http://idph.iowa.gov/Contact-Us/Public-Records-Requests.

As to the third item of your request, is it possible to narrow the
parameters of your search? Many of these terms are commonly used public
health terms; a search will generate a large number of documents and
emails, including routine media requests, departmental reports, etc.
