Pursuant to the Idaho Public Records Act, I hereby request the following records:

With respect to motor vehicle license plates:

1. If one is kept, a copy of the current list of prohibited or automatically denied vanity or personalized license plates.

2. A copy of any list of requested vanity or personalized plates denied in 2021 or 2022.

3. Any correspondence sent to any person whose vanity or personalized plates were denied. This request is limited to correspondence sent after January 1, 2022.

4. If a system is maintained for soliciting or receiving complaints concerning vanity or personalized license plates, a copy of any complaint received in 2021 or 2022.

5. If any vanity or personalized license plates have been revoked since January 1, 2021, any records related to the revocation.

6. A copy of any statute or regulations concerning what combinations of vanity or personalized license plates are permitted or prohibited.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 3 business days, as the statute requires.

Would you be able to provide an examplar of one of the actual rejection letters? That way, I could see if requesting some or all of them would be useful.

With respect to that cost estimate, would you be able to provide an estimate based on the number of requested rejection letters? E.g., it would cost $15 for X letters. That way, I might be able to narrow down the list of letters I'm interested in based on the list of rejected plates.

Attached is an redacted rejection letter. There are a total of 256 rejection letters that will take approximately 21 hours to produce at 5 minutes each letter. Pursuant to §49-202(2)(h), Idaho Code, a fee of $18 per hour will be accessed totaling $378.00.
