Pursuant to the New York Freedom of Information Law, I hereby request the following records:
A. The total number of civilian complaints alleging any form of law enforcement misconduct that were reported and the total number sustained each year from 2016-21, separated by type of allegation (i.e. excessive force, criminal allegations, racial bias, etc).
B. The total number of use of force incidents from 2016-21, including the type of force used, demographics of the officers and subjects, any injuries sustained and the outcome of the incident.
C. Calls for service by type of call, response type and disposition (e.g. arrest and arrest code or type or arrest - misdemeanor or felony, citation, warning). Please include demographics (age, gender, race/ethnicity) of those contacted by dispatched police. Specifically we request the following information for 2016-21:
1. Call Type - or reason for the call, can be a code or a narrative description of the call
2. Call logistics details including date and time initiated and location
3. Call Response - who was dispatched and how many were dispatched
4. Call Disposition - response (what action was taken). This can be an arrest, arrest code, narrative description, citation, warning, referral, or something else).
5. Call Demographics - Who was interacted with as a result of the call including the number of people and their demographics (race/ethnicity, gender, etc)
6. Call end or resolution - date and time resolved
7. Disposition code descriptions (a narrative description of codes used) - If disposition includes an arrest, provide linking information from the call for service to the booking or arrest data
When available, I would appreciate being sent individualized data for each item in this request in spreadsheet format. If individualized data are unavailable, please send information that includes aggregate statistics for the item instead.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 5 business days, as the statute requires.
