To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to the Texas Public Information Act, I hereby request the following records:

1. Any Public Information Act requests concerning the Shahzia Sikander works, as well as any communications to or from the requestor concerning the request, and any records produced in response to the request.

2. Any agreements concerning the acquisition, display, or other use of any of the Sikander works.

3. Any records concerning the decision to cancel or postpone the February 28, 2024, program concerning the works, including (but not limited to) any records relating to the unavailability of the artist.

4. Any communications to or from any elected official and the University of Houston concerning the Sikander works.

5. Any communications to or from any member of the Board of Regents concerning the Sikadner works.

Please note that this request does not seek a search of records held by faculty or students.

Please also note that this request seeks public records wherever they may be found, including on devices or networks owned or operated by private parties. For example, if an employee uses a personal cell phone or social media account to conduct public business, records created, maintained, or held on the phone or account are public records subject to this request.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

In accordance with Section 552.222 of the Texas Government Code, the University seeks to discuss with you how your request might be narrowed. The University would like to see if you would be willing to narrow the scope of your request to the following: any prior public information act requests and responses related to the Sikander works; any agreements between the University and Sikander or Sikander representatives regarding the Sikander works; and any communications between the University and Sikander or Sikander representatives regarding the decision to cancel or postpone the February 28, 2024, program concerning the Sikander works.

Please simply respond to this e-mail and let me know if you are willing to narrow the scope of your request in the manner suggested. The University is required to inform you that if you fail to respond to this e-mail seeking to narrow the scope of your request within 61 days, your request will be considered withdrawn.
