Pursuant to the Texas Public Information Act, I hereby request the following records:

An incident report on the death of David Joost DOB Aug 26 1948 and DOD Mar 4 1990. Any scene photos, investigators notes and any other information related to the incident.
The incident was officially ruled a murder/suicide and no investigation was ever completed.
The incident received some notoriety in the 1990s and early 2000's from various newspapers and the television show 20/20

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Our office is in receipt of your Open Record Request which is enclosed for your reference. We will diligently gather responsive information and review that information prior to disclosure. If our review indicates that responsive information is privileged or non-disclosable, then a Request for Ruling will be sent to the Attorney General’s Office. The due date for a request for ruling in relation to your request is October 1st, 2019. All information that is not the subject of a Request for Ruling will be provided to you as soon as reasonably possible.

Please be aware that beginning May 20, 2019 Hays County District Attorney’s Office will be charging fees for all Open Records Requests pursuant to the Public Information Act. As a result, Hays County District Attorney’s Office will no longer be providing responsive material electronically. All responsive material will be provided to the Requestor through paper copies, CDs, DVDs, or USB Drives. The Requestor is responsible for the cost of such material pursuant to the Public Information Act.
