Pursuant to the Hawaii Uniform Information Practices Act, I hereby request the following records:

(1) Annual reports of the commission for the years 1991 through 1999 and (2) Reports by the commission in 1999 and 2020 to the Hawai'i Legislature regarding the use of "arrest and court records" in employment decisions.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 10 business days, as the statute requires.

Pursuant to the Hawaii Uniform Information Practices Act, I hereby request the following records:

(1) Annual reports of the commission for the years 1991 through 1999 and
(2) Reports by the commission in 1999 and 2020 to the Hawai'i Legislature regarding the use of "arrest and court records" in employment decisions.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

Response to Request

Your records request is granted to the extent that the documents exist. Your request for annual reports is granted, and the reports will be uploaded. If needed the documents can be sent via email or provided on a cd. You also requested reports by the Commission in 1999 and 2020 to the Hawai'i Legislature regarding the use of "arrest and court records" in employment decisions. No such specific reports were produced. Any information regarding complaints of alleged arrest and court record discrimination is in the annual report provided to the legislature. The 1999 report (fiscal year starting July 1, 1998 to June 30, 1999) is provided pursuant to the first part of your request. We will provide the 2020 report in addition, though it can also be found on our website. All information provided to the Hawaii Legislature is provided in our annual reports.
